Crochet Flower Bracelet

Here’s what you need:
  • Size 10 crochet thread
  • 2 mm steel hook
  • Sewing needle
  • Jewelry closure
Click here to reference the Crochet Abbreviations Chart.

Since my bracelet is for a little girl, I only made 5 motifs. Make the number you would need to fit around the wrist of your intended wearer.
Here is the pattern to work the flowers, but see below for different joining options before you get started.
Ch 6, join with Sl st in furthest ch from hook to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st), work 16 scs into ring, join in 1st sc of round — 16 scs.
Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st), beginning in same st as join, *work [1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc], skip next st, rep from * 7 more times, join in 1st sc of round — 8 ch-3 spaces.
Round 3: Ch 1 (does not count as st), work 5 scs in each ch-3 sp around, join in 1st sc of round — 40 sts.
Fasten off.

Joining

To join the flowers into a bracelet, you can simply make all your motifs and then sew them together with a needle and thread or you can use the join as you go method (JAYGO).
To use the JAYGO method, complete your first flower as indicated above. But for your second flower and each after that, repeat Rounds 1 and 2 as above but work Round 3 as follows:
Round 3: Ch 1 (does not count as st), *work 5 scs in next ch-3 sp, repeat from * 5 more times,  **in next ch-3 sp [work 2 scs, drop loop from hook and insert into 3rd st of petal on the flower you want to join it to and pull through the loop, continue working 3 sc in same ch-3 sp], repeat from **   for final petal, join in 1st sc of round — 40 sts.
Fasten off.
Using a sewing needle and your thread, sew bracelet closures to each side of your bracelet. Weave in all ends securely.

Barefoot Sandals

Pearl of the Sea Barefoot Sandals

MATERIALS
  • Category 3, mercerized 100% cotton yarn 60-75 yards. I used Omega Sinfonia for the model; another good option is Patons Grace
  • Size H (5.00mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry/yarn needle
  • 16 Beads
SIZE
  • One size fits US women’s shoe size 6-9. Can be adjusted to smaller/larger sizes by reducing/adding motif(s) and chains for toe/ankle straps.
ABBREVIATIONS
  • +B=add bead with sl st method
  • Ch=chain
  • Dc=double crochet
  • R=row
  • Sc=single crochet
  • Sl st=slip stitch
  • Sk=skip
  • Sp=space
  • St(s)= stitch/stitches
 HOW TO READ THIS PATTERN
  1. When instructions are in brackets [ ] those sts are worked as a set.
  2. Parentheses ( ) at the end of a row = total sts for that row.
NOTES
  • Adding beads to your project: String 16 beads onto your yarn. When the pattern reads +B, add bead using a slip stitch. If you are unfamiliar with adding beads to your yarn and project, see my tutorial here.
  • Beginning ch1 does not count as a st for R3 and repeats of R3.
  • Always keep your bead to the right side of your work. R3 and repeats of R3 is the wrong side of your work. When working your sc rows, bend/push your bead forward, essentially working the st behind the bead to keep the bead on the right side of your work.
  • To don your sandals, tie a loose single knot approximately 2-3 inches from the end of one ankle strap. Hook toe loop over one toe, motifs lie flat on top of foot, draw straps around ankle to heel, crossing over and back around ankle. Place the unknotted ankle strap through the knot on the other ankle strap, pulling the unknotted strap taut to your comfort and tighten the knot at the outside of the ankle. ENJOY wearing your Pearl of the Sea Barefoot Sandals.

The size will be bigger and the shape will stay symmetrical.

Level of the pattern: beginner

Abbreviations used (US terminology):
Chain (CH)
Slip stitch (SlSt)
Single crochet (SC)
Half double crochet (HDC)
Double crochet (DC)

At the beginning of this purse I made African flower. I used African flower pattern designed by Lounette Fourie and Anita Roussouw. I made some little changes in the original pattern, but still the credit gives to them of course.

Instruction

Work in circular rounds. Begin with African flower and continue from down to top direction.

Beginning: use light blue yarn and make 5 CH, join first CH with 1 SlSt to form a ring.
Round 1: 3 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in the middle of the ring, [1 chain stitch, 2 DC in ring] - repeat it 5 times totally, 1 CH, make 1 SlSt to first DC (you will get 6 shells), end the work.

Round 2: use turquoise yarn, insert the hook in 1CH space from previous round and make all stitches in same 1 CH space [3 CH as a first DC +1 DC + 2 DC] - picture of the left

Then you will make: [2 DC + 1 CH + 2 DC + 1 CH] - all stitches in one 1 CH stitch from previous round. Repeat it to the end of the round. Make 1 SlSt to first DC. You will have 6 groups of: [2 DC + 1 CH + 2 DC +1 CH] - picture on the right

Round 3: continue with turquoise yarn and crochet [7 DC first 1CH space from previous round, 1 SlSt in next 1 CH space from previous round] repeat to the end of the round (6 times totally). Make 1 SlSt to first 1 CH space from previous round and end the work. You will get 6 petals.

Round 4: use apple green yarn, insert a hook in first 1CH space round 2 and make 1 CH, then crochet [1 SC in next 7 stitches from previous round, then make 1 SlSt in 1 CH space from round 2] - repeat it to the end of the round. Make 1 SlSt to the first stitch of this round, end the work. You will get 48 stitches.

Round 5: Don't insert a hook in SlSt from previous round, you will skip these stitches. Use light green yarn, insert a hook in first SC from previous round and crochet: [1 SC in next 3 stitches, inc, 1 SC in next 3 stitches, skip one stitch] - repeat 6 times totally (you will have 48 SC). Make 1 SlSt to the first SC, end the work. You will have 48 SC.

Round 6: work with yellow color yarn, insert a hook in first SC from previous round and make: 3 CH as a first DC, then 1 DC in same stitch, [then skip 3 stitches and crochet these stitches: [2 DC + 1CH + 2 DC + 1CH]  in next stitch, then skip 2 stitches and crochet 2 DC in next stitch + 1 CH, skip one stitch and make 2 DC in next stitch + 1 CH- repeat this part 5 times totally, then skip 2 stitches and crochet in these stitches [2 DC + 1CH + 2 DC + 1CH] in next stitch, skip one stitch and make 2 DC in next stitch + 1 CH, join first stitch of the round with 1 SlSt. In fact you will get 24 groups of (2 DC + 1 CH)

Note: OK - this round sounds crazy - but main point is to counted the gaps between groups of stitches, to the final shape will look  symmetrically :-)

2. Insert the hook in the next stitch.
3. Pull through your yarn (also called yarn over)
4. You should have 2 loops on your hook now.
5. Yarn over again
6. Pull through both loops and your are done.
Watch the video to see how it all works (I was holding the camera with my chin so please forgive any blurry bits)

How to:

Start by making the base heart shape, I’ve used this patterndesigned by Andee Graves.
It’s a copyright so I can’t republish it here, but I like that Andee has included both the written pattern and a chart which really helps clarify the shape.
Because Zpagetti yarn is super chunky not all patterns will translate well. I actually tried about 9 or 10 heart patterns and found that this one worked the best with the zpagetti yarn.
I won’t republish the pattern here but have taken some photos of the important stages to help you out if you are inexperienced at reading patterns.
heart crochet basket base first round
1. Work all your dc stitches into here – last stitch of chain.
2. The stitch will get really big, you can tighten it later.
3. To finish first round, slip stitch into here.
4. First round done.
Heart shaped crochet basket base second round
5. Treble stitches all go here.
Hint: Treble Crochet is similar to double crochet but yarn over twice in the first step.
6. You have the first bump on your heart.
7. Work your dc to create half your heart.
8. Chain one here.

Crochet heart instuctions
Making the tip of the heart.
I found this bit a bit tricky, I hope it’s clear with the photos.
A. Before chain one.
B. Chain one then insert hook here.
C. Slip stitch and pull yarn through
D. You have the little point on your heart
Heart crochet base basket
9. Continue making the other half of the heart shape
10. To close heart shape slip stitch into here.
11. Your base is complete.
12. Chain one then sc (single crochet into every stitch) to start building up sides of basket.

Top tip: Make different shaped baskets by using different shaped bases. Square, round, oval or hexi all work great, just sc with no increases and the wall of your baskets will start to build up.
To make the sides of this basket you will need 3 rounds of sc. Any more and you start to lose the heart shape.
crochet sides of basket with zpagetti yarn
13 & 14. This is the first round of sc, see how the sides are starting to curve up.
15. After 3 rounds of sc.
16. Slip stitch and weave in end.
